Inspired by the 400 homeless children Wellspring serves each back-to-school season, these women decided to get together and rally their 266 colleagues on the Patient Financial Services Department floor to see how many school supplies they could collect. Earlier this year, the same floor at Virginia Mason participated in a drive for women’s clothing and toiletries, which were donated to the Wellspring Baby Boutique.
Where does their motivation come from to host multiple donation drives each year?
“When we announce a drive, everybody is just so generous. We’re all thankful that we are employed and that we can give back,” shares Chris. “Everybody really goes for the gusto; this is a great way to connect at work and with the community!”
Fran agrees, adding that the most rewarding aspect of participating in this back-to-school drive is “knowing where the supplies are going: to the kids. The kids were the driving force and everyone just came together.”
