Our Neighbors are Relying on Us!

|

Our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, sponsors and everyone who joined Wellspring to create Lasting Change for children and families experiencing homelessness.

Your collective generosity raised more than $485,000 to help families in our community find hope, discover opportunity, and build resilience – thank you!

However, our work is far from finished. With the impending end to eviction moratoriums many families are living with unrelenting trauma. Not knowing if, or when, they may lose their home or how they will pay their rental debt.

Our community need is significant with 195,000 Washingtonians behind on their rent and roughly 60,000 to 140,000 in danger of eviction or mortgage default. With the average national rental debt estimated to be more than $5,800 and thousands of households still awaiting rental assistance, we are at the threshold of an impending “tsunami” of evictions.

Through our trusted partnerships with the City of Seattle, United Way of King County, and caring people like you, we continue to serve families who have lost part or all of their income due to Covid 19. Through a series of pandemic funds Wellspring was able to distribute rental assistance and provide for other life essentials. These funds kept people housed, avoiding eviction or homelessness. Most important, together, we provided much needed emotional and financial relief leading to stability during a time of great turmoil.

The pandemic has exacerbated existing barriers to housing, employment, basic needs and access to quality education. Through Wellspring services, we are breaking down those barriers for good. We know that families have unique needs, requiring us to customize our approach to meet them where they are at. This creates a greater demand for flexible funding (like the pandemic funds), enabling Wellspring to better assist families who are facing unexpected costs that often create instability and a pathway towards homelessness.

We continue to rely on your caring partnership to serve our neighbors. Please donate today and help families achieve and maintain stability. Together, we can end the cycle of homelessness, one family at a time.
